About GreytoLight

I created GreytoLight because I was tired of pretending that healing is a straight line or that life with depression is something you can “just get over.”

Here, I share my own journey — the difficult days, the small victories, the honest middle ground where most of us actually live.

My hope is simple: that someone who feels stuck in the grey might come here and find a sense of recognition, relief, or even just a reminder that they aren’t alone.

I’m not a therapist or a doctor. I’m someone walking this road too — writing it down to make sense of it, and maybe to make the load feel a little lighter for others.

What is Depression?

Depression is not just “feeling sad.” It is a medical condition that affects mood, thoughts, energy, and daily life. For some it feels like a constant heaviness; for others, it’s numbness, exhaustion, or losing interest in things once loved. It can touch every part of life — sleep, work, relationships, and self-worth.

Most importantly: depression is not a weakness or a personal failure. It is an illness that deserves understanding and care, just like any other health condition.

Facing Stigma

People living with depression often face stigma — being told to “cheer up,” “just be positive,” or “try harder.” These messages make it harder to seek help, because they suggest the problem is simply willpower or attitude.

Stigma can also come in silence: friends withdrawing, workplaces not understanding, or families avoiding the topic. This adds shame to an already heavy burden.

GreytoLight exists to push against that silence. By talking openly, we chip away at the idea that depression must be hidden, and remind ourselves that honesty and vulnerability are forms of strength.
